Mesmerizing hair color from a trailer in Texas.

Stay inspiring

Keep doing what you love.

Walk through the vine covered gate, past the chicken coop and you'll spot a beautiful silver structure. It is a 1950's model Spartan Imperial Mansion, an RV that has retired from road days and now is situated in an East Austin backyard surrounded with tall bamboo.

This is the location for my shoot with Jawn Rocha. The remodeled beauty boasts a small but impressive record collection. Cue ABBA 'The Arrival' on the record player:

Ooh
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen

The photographer, Jawn and I became friends though school and going to shows in Houston when we were younger. Although we had been chatting about a collaboration for several months, this photo shoot came together almost overnight. I was able to find models and find this amazing RVBNB at the last minute. These looks really capture my style as a hair artist and reflect (some of) the type of work I enjoy.

There is nothing quite like getting creative freedom to put your heart and soul in to a creative outlet.

Behind the look.

After creating a blank canvas using bleach on Emily's hair, I custom mixed PulpRiot vivid hair color and applied it in strategic sections.

Behind the look.

I used a lilac on Rachel's roots and then pastel yellow, blue and sea foam green on her ends. The result is truly one of a kind.

The shoot ended and we all went to have Ramen at sunset. I ended up doing Jawn's hair before he left Austin.

Afterwards, I returned to the AirBnb to sleep. I woke up with a sense of pride and wonder, as I sipped my coffee from a San Fransisco mug.

I drank it all in.

Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen

Meet Jawn:

IG: @jawnrocha
He's an old friend of mine and a genius behind the lens. When he's not on tour taking photos of musicians, he's at his home bases in LA & HTX taking awesome portraits and doing videography.
Oh, and I will take credit for his haircut/color.
